World’s First LNG-Powered Icebreaker

News LNG Icebreaker

The world’s first LNG-powered icebreaker, Polaris, was delivered by Arctech Helsinki to the Finnish Government in September. The ship is designed to serve for at least 50 years in icebreaking, oil recovery and sea rescue operations in the Baltic Sea, using both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and low sulphur diesel oil as fuel.
